WELCOME TO THE CHILD DAY SCHOOLS! We would like to give you an inside look into our unique approach to early childhood education. For over twenty-five years, TCDS has provided the most current educational programs within a caring and supportive community for children and families. WHAT SETS US APART is our specially designed curriculum that sparks children's excitement and curiosity, thereby creating a dynamic environment for learning. Our nurturing programs also support children's self esteem, self-reliance, creativity, and compassion for others. RESEARCH proves that children are happy and successful when their programs are developmentally appropriate. Children thrive when they are: Actively involved in their own learning. Working at their own pace and level. Provided with a well-organized learning environment. Guided by knowledgeable and caring teachers. OUR GOAL is to enrich all areas of the child's development represented as the five petals of our flower:         COGNITIVE - logical reasoning, problem solving       SOCIAL - developing friendships, cooperation       EMOTIONAL - security, self-esteem       PHYSICAL - motor skills, eye-hand coordination       CREATIVITY - art, dance, music CLASSROOM ARRANGEMENT- Rooms are divided into carefully labeled work areas to allow children to find materials independently and return them after use. Environments are equipped to meet the specific needs of each age group. ACTIVE LEARNING (Work Time) - Children choose their own activities using a wide variety of materials which stimulate learning and creativity. SMALL GROUP ACTIVITIES - Teachers plan experiences in specific skill areas such as language, art and math. These activities promote problem solving and logical reasoning. DAILY ROUTINE - A consistent daily routine allows children to plan, carry out and review activities, encouraging them to develop their own interests, talents and goals. MUSIC AND MOVEMENT - Balance, coordination and strength are developed through activities we created using the Jack Capon Psychomotor Program.
