At
The Child Day Schools, children are being challenged
in new and interesting ways through our project webs.
A
project web comes to life as an idea or question that
is sparked by the current interests of the children.
The group has a discussion to uncover what is known,
or what they would like to know about this idea. From
there the teacher guides the children in creative
activities to discover and obtain the answers to their
questions, that is they acquire new knowledge. (Therein
lies the learning process which we use throughout
our lives!)
Our
teachers have been extremely creative in providing
a wide range of age appropriate activities, and materials
that reinforce the children's learning related to
the project web subject. Young children genuinely
understand and learn when they work on a subject in
depth, just as older children do. Keep in mind that
the time and depth of a project will also depend upon
the age group of the children.
On
the linked pages above we have focused on some of
the project webs and activities that children have
engaged in at our schools during the last school year.
